Cover Pic: Summer Leagues in full swing.

The month of June kicked off with the long-awaited re-introduction of the Fingallians Summer Festival after an absence of three years. The Summer Festival is a celebration of Football and Camogie/Hurling in the CCC1 juvenile section of our club. What better way to celebrate our sports than a month of mini leagues?

First up were the girls who had three evenings of camogie in the first week of June followed by three evenings of football in the second week. The girls did not disappoint, turning up in their hundreds each night. The Container Pitch in Balheary was a sea of colour for the two weeks as our young players (aged U7 to U12) togged out in their County Colours each night to compete in our Round Robin Games. The atmosphere was electric with all players leaving their hearts on the pitch each night. There were tears, and tumbles, cartwheels, and handstands and the very best of football and camogie on show.

At the end of a tremendous fortnight all our players were rewarded for their efforts with a Fingallians Mini League T-Shirt, a Medal and a packet of our clubs favourite TAYTO crisps.

To all the players, mentors and parents thank you all so much for supporting this important event for our players. Thanks also to Naoise our GPO and Anne O'Loughlin his very capable assistant, who both gave us all endless support every night in preparing and running our mini leagues. Well done everyone!

This week the boys are out, starting with football followed by hurling next week. We wish them all a great fortnight and know that they will have the very best of GAA fun.

Who knows, we might just have a Halloween Mini League in 2022….

A Fond Farewell - Go maire sibh bhur saol nua

All in Fingallians would like to take this opportunity to wish Séamus Seaghach all the very best in his retirement as Principal of Gaelscoil Bhrian Bóroimhe. Under his capable leadership and guidance the school has grown from its humble beginnings, including a time using temporary accommodation in Fingallians Car Park, to the large modern school that now flourishes in Applewood today. Over all the years Séamus has been a fantastic advocate for our Gaelic games and we in Fingallians have also reaped the benefits of this when you see the large numbers of GSBB children playing with the club.

We were delighted to get the opportunity last Friday night at his retirement party to present him with a small token to show him our appreciation.

Ádh mór ar Shéamus agus é ag dul ar scor ó GSBB. Bhí ról lárnach ag Séamus ag cur chun cinn ár gcluichí náisiúnta sa cheantar seo. Beir bua, a chara!
